Monstera's is a book and plant store that opened in 2024 in the suburbs of Kansas City. The owner wished her area had an independent bookstore – so she quit her corporate job and made it happen.

This bookstore owner also happens to be my wife, so along with the professional e-commerce website, brand identity, and social media marketing… I also had to polish the floors and build the bookshelves in my driveway.

We set out to build a brand that was authentically local, a little bit eccentric, and felt like it had some history. We wanted it to feel like this bookstore had been around for 30 years.

We leaned in to retro-themed colors and fonts, hand-drawn illustrations, and even took inspiration from the checkerboard flooring in the shop. I'm really proud of how fun and inviting this one turned out.
